CU*Answers converts Columbus United FCU to its CU*BASE system

September 30, 2021 - CU*Answers is pleased to announce the core data conversion of Columbus United Federal Credit Union. Columbus United FCU has 9,700 members and is $79 million in assets. The credit union converted to the CU*Answers CU*BASE system on September 1st, 2021. While this is CU*Answers’ first credit union partner in Nebraska they have credit unions in 42 other states and there are over 347 credit unions using the CU*BASE system throughout the U.S.

CUSOs reach half-way point in core conversion projects

September 29, 2021 - CU*Answers, the cooperative CUSO headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, reported that it has surpassed the half-way point on nearly three dozen core data processing conversions for its partners at CUaxis, a core technology distributor that is the wholly owned subsidiary of Vizo Corporate Federal Credit Union. The core conversion projects kicked off in October 2020, with the final project slated for spring of 2022. Teams from both CU*Answers and CUaxis have combined efforts to onboard each credit union successfully to the CU*Answers CU*BASE suite.

CUSO performs bi-annual live business continuity test

September 29, 2021 - CU*Answers, the cooperative CUSO headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, reported that it has completed its latest disaster recovery rollover test. These rollover tests are performed at least twice a year by the cooperative’s technical teams and involve moving their suite of online cloud services provided to more than 200 credit unions from its Kentwood, Michigan data center to a backup data center in Yankton, South Dakota. The backup center leverages both the facility and employees of Site-Four, the Yankton-based data center operations CUSO of the same name.

CUSOs prepping for infrastructure upgrade

Septemeber 15, 2021 - CU*Answers, the cooperative CUSO headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and its sister CUSO Site-Four, the Yankton, South Dakota-based provider of data center services, are in the process of preparing for Site-Four’s periodic infrastructure upgrade. The project, which is targeted for completion in late October or early November, will replace Site-Four’s current production and high availability IBM POWER servers with new POWER9 servers. The production and backup servers are located in Yankton and Kentwood, Michigan respectively.

CU*Answers publishes 2022 Strategic Technology Plan

September 3, 2021 - CU*Answers recently announced that it has published its 2022 Strategic Technology Plan as part of its 2022 Business Plan. The Strategic Technology Plan outlines CU*Answers’ high-level technical objectives over the next three business annuals and serves as a companion document to the CU*Answers Business Plan for those that wish to understand technical approaches to business goals. The plan encompasses software development, network projects and new offerings, and operational advancements. Projects are classified according to impact against six categories including cybersecurity, stability, resiliency, performance, development, and data analysis.

CU*Answers works with credit unions to validate enhancement

September 3, 2021 - Recently a project was released to two credit unions as a Beta-type project. 1st Community FCU and Partnership Financial CU participated in validating a project related to schedule loan payments for lines of credit. Previously, when a LOC was paid off and EOM processing happened, the loan still showed a scheduled payment amount due in CU*BASE. With this enhancement, if there is nothing due the scheduled payment amount will also reflect $0 after EOM/payment recalculation occurs.

CU*Answers rolling out vertical receipts to credit unions

May 5, 2021 - CU*Answers, the 100% credit union owned cooperative based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, will now be offering credit unions the ability to switch their receipts from a traditional horizontal layout to a vertical layout. Escanaba, Michigan-based Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union has purchased 200 shares. This addition means that over 140 credit unions are equal owners of their cooperative.

Twice each year, the 100% credit union owned cooperative based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, tests their ability redirect CU*BASE core-processing from their primary production data center to their high-availability data center. Typically, the routine rollover occurs in a one-week period, however, this rollover will occur over a three-week period.
